Comprehensive Protection of Civilians Training Materials for United Nations Peace Operations: Military Version

Free Tuition for All.

About the Course: The aim of these training materials is to provide troop-contributing countries with a comprehensive training package that combines aspects of POC, Child Protection, and Conflict-Related Sexual Violence for military peacekeepers at the tactical level in UN peacekeeping operations. This programme combines elements of each of the three subject matter areas into an overall approach to tactical level protection issues. It includes a protection threat assessment process to inform planning and several small exercises as well as a larger scenario-based exercise, which can be run at the end of a course to strengthen participants’ understanding how POC, Child Protection, and Conflict-Related Sexual Violence considerations affect military planning processes at the tactical level.

These course materials have been sourced directly from the United Nations Peacekeeping Resource Hub under a revocable licence issued by the Integrated Training Service.

"Very good, well written, engaging and rewarding like all of these have been but I wanted to dispute (or query) one of the questions in the exam. I passed so it's not hugely important but... Question 19 International humanitarian law considers which of these to be specially protected objects? A. Vehicles B. Demilitarized zones C. Hospital and safety zones (incorrect) D. All of these I answered C, which I appreciate, along with B, is one of two correct answers, presumably the response sought then is D BUT Vehicles are not 'Specially Protected Objects' as far as I am aware (unless they are marked with press, medical or some other marking identifying those inside as belonging to a protected category of person) making D incorrect? Your own text does not identify "Vehicles" as 'Specially Protected Objects' so... is this an error or do I have it wrong? Grateful if you would clarify for me. Cheers"
