The aim of these training materials is to provide troop-contributing countries with a comprehensive training package that combines aspects of POC, Child Protection, and Conflict-Related Sexual Violence for military peacekeepers at the tactical level in UN peacekeeping operations. This programme combines elements of each of the three subject matter areas into an overall approach to tactical level protection issues. It includes a protection threat assessment process to inform planning and several small exercises as well as a larger scenario-based exercise, which can be run at the end of a course to strengthen participants’ understanding how POC, Child Protection, and Conflict-Related Sexual Violence considerations affect military planning processes at the tactical level.

These course materials have been sourced directly from the United Nations Peacekeeping Resource Hub under a revocable licence issued by the Integrated Training Service.

"The comprehensive protection of civilians, with a focus on children and gender issues, is crucial to ensuring that United Nations peacekeeping operations not only protect but also promote the rights and dignity of all civilians, regardless of age or gender. This course, therefore, is an important tool for training and raising awareness among UN military forces, enabling them to effectively respond to the specific needs of children and vulnerable groups, and contributing to the building of lasting peace. I still believe that many children can be saved through education in schools about peacekeepers.
