Technology and Innovation in United Nations Peace Operations

About the Author: Dr. Walter Dorn is a Professor of Defence Studies at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) and the Canadian Forces College (CFC). Dr. Dorn is a scientist by training (with a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Toronto) whose doctoral research was on chemical sensing, especially for arms control. He participated in negotiating, ratifying, and implementing the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) while working at Parliamentarians for Global Action (1992 to 1993). His interests cover international and human security, especially UN field operations for peacekeeping and peace enforcement.

Au sujet de l’auteur : Le Dr Walter Dorn est professeur d’études de défense au Collège militaire royal du Canada (CMR) et au Collège des Forces canadiennes (CFC). Le Dr Dorn est un scientifique de formation (titulaire d’un doctorat en chimie de l’Université de Toronto) dont les recherches doctorales portaient sur la détection chimique, en particulier pour le contrôle des armements. Il a participé à la négociation, à la ratification et à la mise en œuvre de la Convention sur les armes chimiques (CAC) alors qu’il travaillait pour l’Action mondiale des parlementaires (de 1992 à 1993). Ses intérêts couvrent la sécurité internationale et humaine, en particulier les opérations de maintien et d’imposition de la paix des Nations Unies sur le terrain.
