In a Rapid Deployment situation, Peacekeeping Operations support systems must deploy with little notice, and provide the basic support necessary to allow a mission to begin implementing its mandate. In Lesson 5, you will learn about the material and personnel reserves, the contractual services, and the UN Standby Arrangements System that allows for Rapid Deployments. You will also learn about the staff requirements for establishing a Mission HQ, as well as the UN Logistics Base at Brindisi, which acts as the operational hub for all UN logistics support.
