This final lesson of the course examines women’s roles in advocating for peace and it emphasizes the importance of maintaining a critical gender perspective in peacekeeping operations. Most of what is written about gender inequality, and this course is no exception, pays more attention to women’s victimization than to their strengths. The point of this lesson is to offset that pattern by providing you with examples of successful women’s organizations and of women’s positive initiatives in the field of peacekeeping.
