Lesson 5: Administrative and Logistics Matters

Lesson Five addresses administrative and logistics matters for the UNPOL officer. As part of their pre-deployment preparation, UNPOL are provided with basic guidelines in order to ease the administrative problems in the initial stages of their service with the UN. Once in theatre, UNPOL are provided with mission-specific guidelines known as Standard Operating Procedures, or, briefly, SOPs. This lesson highlights some of the important administrative details that are typically addressed in these documents. The lesson also briefly addresses the complex role of the Department of Field Support and, more specifically, the logistics support tasks that are the responsibility of UNPOL.
