All peacekeeping operations attract media attention, and peacekeepers' communication with the local population is broadcast via both the local, regional, and international media. The ability to disseminate truthful, credible, and impartial information within the region, and beyond, is consequently an essential requirement of every peacekeeping mission. All MILOBS and peacekeepers within a mission must understand the impact of their responses to the media on the peacekeeping operation. Lesson 13 will provide you with basic information on media relations and how to successfully participate in an interview.
