Peace operations today function in a complex environment and are generally multidimensional and multinational, involving a wide range of disciplines and components from many cultures and countries. To achieve success in this environment, strong leadership, cooperation, and an integrated response is required to maintain the critical support of the many actors involved in supporting the mandate. Lesson 6 discusses these requirements in detail, taking a closer look at the roles and responsibilities found within the different mission components. The lesson also discusses civil-military coordination and cooperation with the UN Country Team, NGOs, humanitarian affairs, security, and the media.
