Lesson 6 describes the vital process of budgeting, procuring, and managing the finances of a UN Mission. The amount and type of financial backing varies for different operations, but secure funding is fundamentally necessary for every mission. For a mission to procure funding, a budget must be approved by the Secretary-General, the Security Council, the General Assembly, and a number of smaller offices. Once a budget is approved, all procurement and expenditure must follow the UN? Financial Regulations and Rules and be processed through the proper UN channels.
