Lesson 7 identifies and discusses the various cross-cutting issues within peacekeeping missions – issues that affect all mission components, as well as external actors. These issues include the Protection of Civilians, the Use of Force, Human Rights, DDR, SSR, and Gender. The lesson also includes a section on Public Information, discussing the importance of maintaining a good relationship with the local and international media, and a section on Conduct and Discipline, which emphasizes how misconduct by mission personnel can greatly impede the success of the mission.
