Course description

The aim of the NATO CIMIC Basic Course is to enable NATO/PfP/MD/ICI Officers and NCOs to conduct CIMIC activities at the tactical level. The course also aims to enable equivalent civilians from International Organizations (IOs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to achieve a deep understanding of CIMIC from a military point of view.

The course will cover CIMIC NATO doctrines (AJP-9) and concepts, CIMIC capabilities and organizations, and the civil-military dimension, including civilian organizations. The course will also cover CIMIC Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (ACO Manual 86-1-1) on the tactical level that support interoperability within NATO. This course is to be considered as a basic course within the CIMIC functional area. Course graduates have to be able to undertake specific CIMIC work in support of their Commanders Mission.
