This seminar, conducted in French, aims at developing in the student the skills of analysis and intervention within the framework of United Nations peacekeeping missions. The course will allow the student to best study the interactions and the interrelationships between the various components of a UN mission, including international, regional, and local actors and their respective missions.
The course will include the following topics on the contemporary environment of UN peacekeeping missions and their components: legal officers, mandates, missions, SRSG, military quotas, MILOBS, civilian police, humanitarian components, DDR, electoral components, civilian component, human rights, and the consolidation of peace. The course includes exercises and simulations which will allow the student to develop the practical aspects of UN missions, according to current international events.
The course is intended for students working towards a Master's degree in Political Science, Law, International Relations and other eligible degrees. It is also intended for all professionals interested in peacekeeping.
