The aim of the course is to provide participants with a detailed understanding of the financial aspects of peace missions. It will include an understanding and interpretation of all documents that provides guidance to peace missions, from establishing to closing down a peace mission. This includes the United Nations Security Council resolution (mandate), status of force/mission agreements, troop contributing country guidelines, force requirements, compilation and management of a memorandum of understanding, the United Nations Policies and Procedures Concerning Reimbursement and Control of Contingent Owned Equipment of Police/Troop Contributors Participating in peace missions (COE Manual) (LOA), Letters of Assist and reporting procedures.
The course is one week long, run by the Staff (South African) and supported by South Africa and UN subject matter experts. The course is delivered through a series of lectures, discussions and practical exercises.
Number of Students per Course:
40 Military Rank Range: Major to Brigadier General.
Other Government Departments: Civilian equivalent.
This course is only open to South African personnel.
