This four-week course is aimed at students of rank of Captain (Army) to Lieutenant Colonel or equivalent in other services and the security sector, e.g.: Police, border guards, and government civil servants. The aim of the IPSO course is to study the operational level planning, coordination and conduct of Peace Support Operations in order to enhance the understanding of the multi-faceted nature of such operations.

KAIPTC is an operational level regional training centre for the West African region (ECOWAS). Attendance on courses is designed for Civil, Military and security sector personnel from Captain (army) through to Lt Col or the equivalent civilian, political or security sector equivalents who will be participating in peace support operations worldwide.
All KAIPTC courses are fully sponsored by donors and attendance is by invitation only, mostly through the Ministries of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of respective governments and recognised corporate organisations. Individual applicants will join a reserve list on a first come first served basis but confirmation of a place is unlikely to be given until after the closing date for the course, approx 4 working weeks prior to the course start date. If successful, applicants should be prepared to confirm their allocation and provide proof of funding not later than two working weeks prior to the start date so that all administration, including flights and accommodation, can be completed in adequate time. The costs of courses vary enormously and are therefore not published on the website; up-to-date details are provided with the invitation.
