Giovanni Ercolani

Giovanni Ercolani is a thesis advisor for the Peace Operations Training Institute. A Doctor in Political Science and Oriental Studies, both from the University of Roma (“La Sapienza”), he holds a M.A. in Politics and Government from St. John’s University. Previously, Dr. Ercolani served at the NATO COMLANDSOUTHEAST HQ in Izmir, Turkey and has been a Research Associate at the Scottish Centre for International Security at the University of Aberdeen.

Dr. Ercolani has taught about security issues in Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Slovenia, Romania, Albania, and Turkey. He is a specialist in International Terrorism, Security Studies, International Relations, Human Security, Conflicts, Peacekeeping and International Conflict Resolution, Intelligence, the Geopolitics of Energy, and Energy Security. He is a regional expert on Turkey, the Caucasus, and the Black Sea.

Dr. Ercolani is a member of Chatham House, the Royal United Services Institute, the Center for Energy and Environmental Security (Nottingham Trent University), and the East and West Institute. He is Assistant Director of the Italian Center for Turkish Studies.
