Course description

This two-week course is designed for professionals and students who wish to study more about international humanitarian law and the way this area relates to armed conflict. Experts from all over the world come to the Institute to share their knowledge with highly motivated participants through special lectures and lively workshops. Social activities are planned to foster exchanges among participants coming from different backgrounds, countries and professional experiences (UN agencies, Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, NGOs, civil society, Government officials, military, academia). The final three days of the course are spent in Switzerland where meetings with top-ranking officials and experts are organised at the United Nations Office in Geneva (UNOG), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
