"This was a very vital course as it is imperative to check the excesses of both the Mission's Uniformed personnel and UN's civilian employees.
What I liked most about the course was the AIDS/HIV addendum that discussed in details the do's and don't's by the deployed personnel. It was written in plain and clear English for everyone who takes the course or reads it at whatever time to understand.
However, it was silent on the fate of personnel that would be deployed in mission area when already infected with the AIDS/HIV. Has the UN thought about it or they are currently still quiet? Shouldn't there be ways and processes that facilitate deployment of infected/affected and how best to administer the ailment in the mission areas?
The course was also spot-on when discussing the cultural diversities. The people deployed in mission areas with different culture and stages of cultural assimilation discussed in the course were all fantastic; easy to fathom.
The children's right during conflicts were also tackled extensively highlighting what should be done and how children should be handled.
SEA and violence identification and prevention. These are always meted on the girls and women as a tool of war to dehumanize the enemy. The author was illustrious and well prepared to bring out the best in this field and he was successful.
Overall the course was excellent and to the point. Ethics being one of my passions in my professional life enabled me to score highly in this course (98%).
My immeasurable appreciation goes to the Author for the excellent piece of work in formulating the course and the POTI administration for enabling everyone in the forces (from developing countries) to do this and many more courses free. You cannot know the impact you have made on forces that do courses thereby transfer the knowledge to UN, EU and AU missions and/or Humanitarian Organisations.
POTI administration is appreciated for keeping the web page and classrooms updated at all times despite having other responsibilities.
My appreciation also goes to the distinguished developed countries like UK, USA, Denmark, Sweden, to mention but a few that have kept the funds coming to make the free courses available.
