Greetings from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research Programme of Correspondence Instruction in Peacekeeping Operations (UNITAR POCI). This is the first message sent to our mailing list for training officers at UN Peacekeeping missions. All are welcome to add or remove themselves from this mailing list through our Web site:

---IDLP Kits mailed for 2007-2008---
If your mission has a bulk course licence through our Integrated Distance Learning Programme (IDLP), you should receive your IDLP Kit soon, either by pouch mail or UPS. If you have not already started using your IDLP Web site, here are some tips:
* Your mission personnel can enrol in our courses by visiting http://unmissions.unitarpoci.org/ and clicking on the appropriate link.
* You can find instructions and tips in our Manual for IDLP Administrators, available online at http://www.unitarpoci.org/idlp_manual/.
* If you have questions or problems, write to us! Our Assistant to the Registrar, Ms. Marianne Wrightson, can be reached at wrightson@unitarpoci.org.
---More courses for 2007-2008---
With twenty courses available in English, UNITAR POCI training materials cover a wide variety of topics. As of today, thirteen of these are available in French. We are pleased to report that our IDLP subscribers will soon have twelve courses in Spanish at their disposal. Spanish courses will come online for IDLP subscribers later this month.
---What are these folders in our IDLP Kit?---
The "Welcome/Bienvenue" folders that will arrive with your IDLP kit are meant to help you organize orientation material at your Mission. We thought they would be an easy way to organize usually loose, informative, and important papers distributed to new staff members. We hope you and your staff enjoy them! Please hand them out as much as you like.
---What if my mission does not subscribe to IDLP?---
UNITAR POCI recognizes that staff "on the ground" are our most important students. That is why we offer big training discounts to students serving at peacekeeping missions, even if their mission does not subscribe to IDLP. Students can visit http://unmissions.unitarpoci.org/ and click on their mission name to find a training programme that is right for them. Students sign up, pay their discounted tuition, and receive their courses electronically, all without adding to your training officers' workload.
